Narrative Managers In Overdrive After Death Of White Helmets Founder

ORIGINAL LINK

James Le Mesurier, the founder of the White Helmets, has died. He was found to have plummeted from a height to the street outside his home, and authorities are reportedly calling it a suicide.

Le Mesurier has a history with British military intelligence and was fundamentally involved with an extremely shady narrative management operation geared toward manufacturing support for yet another imperialist military intervention in yet another Middle Eastern nation, so obviously any claims of suicide should be taken with a grain of salt no smaller than a Buick. But it is worth noting that according to Middle East Eye, Le Mesurier’s wife told police that he’d been struggling with psychological issues for which he was taking medications and had previously been hospitalized. Le Mesurier’s home was reportedly only accessible by fingerprint and no video footage of anyone besides Le Mesurier and his wife entering or leaving has been found.

Establishment narrative managers, for their part, have been floating the possibility that the White Helmets founder was murdered by the Russian government. The Washington Examiner has published an article titled “Did Russia kill White Helmets founder James Le Mesurier?”, calling to mind Betteridge’s law of headlines which states that “Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no.” The BBC’s Mark Urban tweeted out and then deleted a thread (screenshots here) in which he cites an anonymous source who claims to have known Le Mesurier’s flat well enough to be sure that it’s not possible to “fall” from his balcony, then meaningfully pointing to a “black propaganda campaign by Russia and Assad media” against Le Mesurier. He apparently didn’t consider the possibility of suicide until later, saying he deleted his thread due to “new information”.

For more info on Le Mesurier and his White Helmet mates, I highly recommend watching this excellent half-hour video by James Corbett. It’s full of primary-source video footage indisputably confirming the organization’s ties to western governments and to violent extremist factions in Syria, and explaining how an allegedly “neutral” organization on the ground has been used to control the narrative about what’s been happening in Syria.

Pundits who’ve built their name on Syria narrative management have been expressing grief over Le Mesurier’s death, including Eliot Higgins, Charles Lister, Julian Röpke and Oz Katerji. Katerji, an especially aggressive imperialism proponent, was particularly stricken, acknowledging that this pervasively corrupt operative was actually a dear friend of his.

“It is with a deeply heavy heart that I do this, but I can confirm my friend James Le Mesurier, founder of Mayday Rescue of White Helmets fame, died at his home in Istanbul last night,” Katerji tweeted. “I am profoundly saddened by this, Jakes was a brave and decent man who saved countless lives. I will miss him. I am at a loss for words.”

Janine di Giovanni, who in 2016 authored a fawning puff piece on Le Mesurier and the White Helmets for Newsweek, tweeted, “Terrible news. James was funny, smart, brave, committed. He stood up to bullies. On the right side of history. Believed in the White Helmets, their mission, their drive for good. A loss to humanity.”

Journalist Jonathan Cook criticized di Giovanni’s gushing hagiography, tweeting, “This is what access journalism looks like: prize-winning war correspondents like Janine di Giovanni hanging out with ‘funny’ spooks like James Le Mesurier who’ve been responsible for stoking the very wars they report on — wars that have destroyed whole societies.”

On the death of James Le Mesurier, western governments' organiser of logistics support and propaganda for the fanatical jihadists in Syria, it is no surprise that today "Philip Cross" makes 48 edits to his Wikipedia page. https://t.co/qei9MnbgRC

 — @CraigMurrayOrg

Former UK ambassador Craig Murray has flagged the fact that Wikipedia’s imperialist narrative manager “Philip Cross” has made dozens of edits to Le Mesurier’s Wiki page since his death. Cross, who I’ve reported on previously, has made a more-than-full-time job of constantly managing the Wikipedia pages of both pro-establishment and anti-establishment media figures in a very pro-establishment slant; an article by Five Filters which you can read by clicking here documents how the “Philip Cross” account has been working morning to night with precisely zero days off toward this endeavor.

An article published by Murray last year documents the curious fact that although the serial Wikipedia editor had only about 200 followers on Twitter, he was followed by many high-profile narrative managers from huge British news media outlets like The Guardian, The Times and the BBC, as well as none other than James Le Mesurier himself.

Murray wrote at the time:

“Why then does James LeMesurier, founder of the ‘White Helmets’, follow Philip Cross on twitter? Why does ex-minister Tristram Hunt follow Philip Cross on Twitter? Why does Sarah Brown, wife of Gordon, follow Philip Cross on twitter? Why then do so the following corporate and state journalists follow ‘Philip Cross’ on twitter?”

To these questions I would add, why was Le Mesurier seen defending “Philip Cross” from someone voicing suspicion of him on Twitter after George Galloway offered a reward for information about the account? These questions have never been satisfactorily answered. And now this same account is frantically editing the Wikipedia page of his late fan James Le Mesurier. Some excerpts from the editing notes Cross has made to the page (note: according to Wikipedia, “RS” is short for Reliable Source):

  • not WH alone: “Unfounded conspiracy theories latched onto the White Helmets’ foreign funding and ties to Mr. Le Mesurier” and (earlier in the article) “who has been the target of repeated online disinformation campaigns”
  • Alternet is not considered RS, the article is by Max Blumenthal
  • this is the Assadist line which has no usable sources & should not be given undue credibility
  • rumour/conspiracy theory spread by non-RS

The article also has an editorial discussion section about whether or not it’s appropriate to have a “criticisms” section on the page, and how much any criticisms should be limited. Cross is of course intimately involved in this discussion as well.

There is an immense narrative management campaign dedicated to controlling what people think about what’s happening in Syria, aimed not solely at advancing the longstanding regime change agenda of the US-centralized empire but at protecting the credibility of the warmongering government and media institutions who the public is growing increasingly skeptical of in a post-Iraq invasion information age. If people become doubtful in the propaganda machine which greases the gears of war, then warmongering itself will become impossible to carry out without waking the masses up from the narrative control matrix they’ve worked so hard to lull us into. Without endless war, the empire will crumble.

Whoever controls the narrative controls the world. Narrative control comes before any other priority the empire might have; before resources, before land, before even war itself. Our rulers and their goons will protect their ability to control the story of what’s happening tooth and claw. It’s up to us to see through their lies and bring an end to the lie factory.

MSM Adamantly Avoids The Word “Coup” In Bolivia Reporting

ORIGINAL LINK

There has been a military coup in Bolivia backed by violent right-wing rioters and the US government, but you’d hardly know this from any of the mainstream media headlines.

“Bolivian President Evo Morales steps down following accusations of election fraud” proclaims CNN.

“Bolivia’s Morales resigns amid scathing election report, rising protests” reports The Washington Post.

“Bolivian Leader Evo Morales Steps Down” says The New York Times.

“Bolivian President Evo Morales resigns amid fraud poll protests” declares the BBC.

“President of Bolivia steps down amid allegations of election rigging” we are informed by Telegraph.

“Bolivia’s President Morales resigns after backlash to disputed election” says the Sydney Morning Herald.

So there you have it. The indigenous leader of a socialist South American government which has successfully lifted masses of people out of crushing poverty, which happens to control the world’s largest reserves of lithium (which may one day replace oil as a crucial energy resource due to its use in powering smartphones, laptops, hybrid and electric cars), which has an extensive and well-documented history of being targeted for regime change by the US government, simply stepped down due to some sort of scandal involving a “disputed election”. Nothing to do with the fact that right-wing mobs had been terrorizing this leader’s family, or the fact that the nation’s military literally commanded him to step down and are now currently searching for him to arrest him, leading to ousted government officials being rounded up and held captive by soldiers wearing masks.

All perfectly normal and not suspicious at all.

Fully support the findings of the @OAS_official report recommending new elections in #Bolivia to ensure a truly democratic process representative of the people's will. The credibility of the electoral system must be restored.

 — @SecPompeo

As is usual, mass media’s reporting on this story is in full alignment with the US State Department, with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also advancing the “disputed election” line in a tweet shortly before the forced resignation of Morales. Pompeo cited the evidence-free and discredited allegation of suspicious vote tallies during Morales’ re-election last month from the Washington-based Organization of American States (OAS). As Mark Weisbrot of the Center for Economic & Policy Research explains in a recent article for The Nation, the OAS receives 60 percent of its funding from Washington, which gives the US tremendous leverage over the supposedly neutral and international body. This ties in interestingly with what we discussed the other day about Washington’s known history of using its disproportionate financial support for the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons as leverage to force that supposedly neutral and international body to comply with US agendas.

The field of narrative management keeps making more and more advances.

They never did find any evidence of fraud in the October 20th election, but the media repeated the allegation so many times that it became "true," in this post-truth world. Thread: https://t.co/8oWFNKNebT

 — @MarkWeisbrot

The US-centralized empire just keeps throwing coup attempts at unabsorbed governments until they stick. The coup in Venezuela failed in 2002 and again in 2019, but they’ll just keep attempting them until one takes hold. A kickboxer throws strikes in combinations with the understanding that most attacks will miss or do minimal damage against a trained opponent, but eventually one will get through and score the knockout blow. Imperialist regime change agendas employ the same punches-in-bunches philosophy: just keep attacking and undermining at every possible turn, and eventually something will stick.

And the empire can afford to do this. When you have all the power and resources, you can bide your time, knowing that if the current attempt at toppling the government in a sovereign nation fails, there’s always tomorrow.

At a United Nations Security Council meeting last year, President Morales summed up the true nature of America’s role in the world very accurately, and, it turns out, very presciently.

“I would like to say to you, frankly and openly here, that in no way is the United States interested in upholding democracy,” Morales said. “If such were the case it would not have financed coups d’etat and supported dictators. It would not have threatened with military intervention democratically elected governments as it has done with Venezuela. The United States could not care less about human rights or justice. If this were the case, it would have signed the international conventions and treaties that have protected human rights. It would not have threatened the investigation mechanism of the International Criminal Court, nor would it promote the use of torture, nor would it have walked away from the Human Rights Council. And nor would it have separated migrant children from their families, nor put them in cages.”

“The United States is not interested in multilateralism,” Morales continued. “If it were interested in multilateralism it would not have withdrawn from the Paris Agreement or given the cold shoulder to the global compact on migration, it would not have launched unilateral attacks, nor have taken decisions such as illegally declaring Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel. This contempt for multilateralism is motivated by the thirst of the United States for political control and for the seizing of natural resources.”

“Each time that the United States invades nations, launches missiles, or finances regime change, it does so behind a propaganda campaign which incessantly repeats the message that it is acting in the course of justice, freedom and democracy, in the cause of human rights or for humanitarian reasons,” Morales also said.

“The responsibility of our generation is to hand over a fairer and more secure world to the following generation,” Morales concluded. “We will only achieve this dream if we work together to consolidate a multipolar world, a world with common rules that are respected by and defended from all the threats ranged against the United Nations.”

Indeed, the only reason the US is able to wage its endless campaign of regime change agendas against unabsorbed governments is because the unipolar world order it rules has allowed it the power, resources and leisure to do so. A multipolar world would enable the citizenry of this planet to have a say in what happens to them in a way that is not dictated by a few sociopaths in and around Washington, DC. A multipolar world is to democracy as a unipolar world is to monarchy. The citizens of the world should oppose this unipolarity.

Facebook removes 'any and all mentions' of alleged whistleblower's name

ORIGINAL LINK

Facebook is removing from its platform any mention of the name of the potential whistleblower who ignited the current Democratic-led impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump.

Facebook is also cracking down on media outlets that post the whistleblower's name, saying to do so is a violation of the social media giant's community standards and policies, Breitbart reported.

The conservative news outlet said Facebook removed a post from Breitbart's page that pointed out other respected media publications have named the whistleblower.

The whistleblower's name is also mentioned in special counsel Robert Mueller's reported (on page 283) and in a transcript from Ambassador Bill Taylor's closed-door testimony, which was made public.

Breitbart said that it received a notification from Facebook that the outlet's news page was "at risk of being unpublished," due to publishing the alleged whistleblower's name.

In response to an inquiry from Breitbart, Facebook released the following statement: "Any mention of the potential whistleblower’s name violates our coordinating harm policy, which prohibits content 'outing of witness, informant, or activist.'"

"We are removing any and all mentions of the potential whistleblower’s name and will revisit this decision should their name be widely published in the media or used by public figures in debate," the statement read.

Some other outlets that have included the name of the alleged whistleblowers in their stories are RealClearInvestigations, The Western Journal, The Federalist and the Washington Examiner.

Rush Limbaugh -- who is the most popular talk radio host in the country, with an audience of millions -- devoted a lengthy segment to discussing the whistleblower on air by name late last month.

The president's oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., also shared a Breitbart story that identified the alleged whistleblower in a tweet.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham told reporters Tuesday on Capitol Hill that the whistleblower statute does not protect the identity of the individual, but only shields the person from facing retribution in their employment with the federal government.

"The whistleblower statute was never meant to give you anonymity," Graham said. "It was meant to allow you to come forward without being fired."

Sen. Lindsey Graham: "The whistleblower statute was never meant to give you anonymity." pic.twitter.com/c4B8tHerBS

— The Hill (@thehill) November 5, 2019

"You can't use anonymity in a criminal process. You can't use anonymity in a civil process," he added. "This is a misuse of the statute."

Harvard Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told Fox News on Thursday, "What we read about now is that suddenly it is a new crime to publish the name of a whistleblower."

"I spent this afternoon searching the statute books, I simply couldn't find that crime," Dershowitz said. "It is so dangerous for political opponents to invent new crimes without having them passed by the legislature."

The legal scholar further pointed out that the Constitution prevents the legislature from creating new crimes and then applying them retroactively.

Tweets surfaced earlier this week in which one of the whistleblower's attorneys, Mark Zaid, in the days after Trump took office in January 2017 wrote that the "coup has started," and "impeachment will follow ultimately."

“45 years from now we might be recalling stories regarding the impeachment of @realDonaldTrump. I’ll be old, but will be worth the wait,” Zaid wrote.

— Jack Posobiec 🇺🇸 (@JackPosobiec) November 7, 2019

Trump highlighted the tweets at a rally in Monroe, Louisiana, on Wednesday night.

"It's all a hoax. It's a scam," he said of the impeachment inquiry.

‘I’ll f**king bury you!’ McAfee vows to expose corrupt US officials & CIA agents if ‘disappeared’

ORIGINAL LINK

Bitcoin evangelist John McAfee has threatened to “bury” the US government if they keep harassing him over unpaid taxes, promising to leak a huge trove of files proving corruption throughout Washington and its allies.

I’ve collected files on corruption in governments. For the first time, I’m naming names and specifics,” McAfee warned in a string of tweets stretching back to Sunday. Vowing to release over 31 terabytes of “incriminating data” to the press if arrested or otherwise “disappeared,” he posted the names of a “corrupt CIA agent and two Bahamian officials” along with claims they’d taken bribes and been involved with drug trafficking, apparently to show he was not bluffing.

He also promised to release the names of “25 Congressmen and 5 Senators, from both Parties, who are coming up for re-election in 2020, and who MUST be recalled, and if that fails, booted out of office on election day” on Friday.

Claiming the Department of Justice was cooking up murder, racketeering and money-laundering charges against him in the hope of extraditing him from the Bahamas and locking him up for tax evasion, McAfee pointed out that the last attempt at framing him – when authorities in Belize raided his home and charged him with running a drug operation – failed.

“The US Government has never faced a foe like me before,” McAfee declared, promising to “suffer this onslaught no longer.”

McAfee has been the target of a murder accusation before. In March, a Florida court found him liable in a $25 million “wrongful death” suit, after the estate of his deceased neighbor in Belize accused him of hiring a hitman to torture the man to death. He was never actually charged with the murder, and he dismissed the lawsuit as “frivolous.

The programmer, who made millions off his McAfee AntiVirus software and later made millions more off Bitcoin, admitted in January that he hasn’t filed his income taxes in eight years, and gave several reasons for not doing so, including “I’m done making money” and the always popular “Taxation is illegal.

McAfee announced in January he was running for president “in exile” on a platform promoting the use of cryptocurrencies. Currently living aboard a yacht in the Caribbean he has called the “freedom boat,” he claimed he would use “masked doppelgängers” to campaign in the US. I Am a Witness to Brainwashing in Public Schools

ORIGINAL LINK

According to the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation’s (VOC) fourth “Annual Report on US Attitudes Toward Socialism, Communism, and Collectivism,” today’s youth is quite fond of political-economic systems that have resulted in more than 100 million deaths over the past century. At the same time, these misguided youths are increasingly hostile toward the political-economic system that has lifted countless millions more out of abject poverty over the same period.

“This year’s study showed increased support for communism (36 percent) among Millennials compared to 2018. Opinions of capitalism took a steep decline from 2018 to 2019, with only one-in-two among Millennials (ages 23-38) and Generation Z (ages 16-22) having a favorable opinion of capitalism,” the report noted.

Here are a few other “key takeaways” from VOC’s report:

  • “70 percent of Millennials say they are likely to vote socialist.”
  • “15 percent of Millennials think the world would be better off if the Soviet Union still existed.”
  • “About one-in-five Millennials (22 percent) believe that ‘society would be better if all private property was abolished,’ compared to 1 percent of the Silent Generation.”
  • “45 percent of Generation Z and Millennials believe that ‘all higher education should be free.’”
  • “About one-in-four Americans (27 percent) across every generation see President Trump as the ‘biggest threat to world peace’ over Kim Jong-Un (22 percent) and Vladimir Putin (15 percent).”
  • “Only 57 percent of Millennials believe the Declaration of Independence better ‘guarantees freedom and equality’ over the Communist Manifesto.”

You may be thinking: How is this possible?

I think I have an answer for you. The U.S. education system is brainwashing today’s youth to believe that capitalism is evil while also indoctrinating students with utopian, false, and fairy-tale notions about socialism and communism.

Although this may sound like hyperbole, I have experienced this miseducation first-hand. Long story short, while teaching U.S. History, World History, Economics, and American Government for five (long) years to high school students in the Chicago suburbs and in Bluffton, South Carolina, I was absolutely shocked and dismayed. In both of my experiences, the “state standards,” which dictate the curriculum, were chock full of pro-socialist, anti-capitalist rhetoric.

If you think I am exaggerating, think again. Below are a few examples of “It is Essential for Students to Know” from the South Carolina US History and Constitution Learning Standards for a few historical periods.

Post-Civil War Industrialization: “Students should understand that economic growth started in the first half of the century … was fostered by both government actions and changes in each of the factors of production. It is important to emphasize the role of government in providing the business environment in which entrepreneurs could be successful because it is a common misunderstanding that government impedes economic growth and that American individualism was sufficient to promote America’s emergence as an industrial power in the late nineteenth century.”

The Gilded Age: “Entrepreneurs used new technologies and new business tactics to create large corporations to control their industry. … Critics of these entrepreneurs and unfettered capitalism questioned whether the interests of the so-called ‘Robber Barons’ were protected too much by government. … It is important for students to understand that unfettered competition led to economic uncertainty and periodic depressions and eventually to a public call for government regulation of monopolistic practices.”

The New Deal: “The New Deal was not an attempt to introduce socialism in the United States, although that is what its critics claimed. Indeed, many historians argue that because of New Deal policies, capitalism was saved. Although New Deal policies alleviated some suffering and offered hope to Americans in their bleakest hour, they did not solve the economic problems of the Depression. Rather, massive government spending during World War II ended the Depression.”

The Great Society: “Johnson’s vision of the Great Society led to the establishment of Medicare and Medicaid and the initiation of the War on Poverty. These economic programs helped to insure that the poor and the elderly received health care. They also reduced the poverty rate. … These programs extended the government’s commitment to social welfare that started with the New Deal.”

The Reagan Era: “Reaganomics and defense spending, as well as globalization, had a long term impact on the economy that is still being debated today. Yearly budget deficits due to increased defense spending contributed to a tripling of the national debt. The failure of many deregulated financial institutions led to the need for massive bailouts that further added to the debt and the crisis in economic confidence in the 1980s and again in 2008.”

Keep in mind, the standards are only one element of what teachers teach. A far larger problem, in my opinion, is the blatant pro-government, anti-business bias that most teachers openly flaunt in the classroom. Unless and until there is a massive reform of our public-school system (such as universal school choice), the problem is likely to become worse before it becomes better.
