Spain Government Goes Full Police State; Enacts Law Forbidding Dissent, 'Unauthorized' Photography Of Law Enforcement | Techdirt: "Well, Spain's officially a police state now. On July 1st, its much-protested "gag" law went into effect, instantly making criminals of those protesting the new law. Among the many new repressive stipulations is a €30,000-€600,000 fine for "unauthorized protests," which can be combined for maximum effect with a €600-€300,000 fine for "disrupting public events."
This horrible set of statutes has arisen from Spain's position as a flashpoint for anti-austerity protests, the European precursor to the Occupy Wall Street movement. Fines, fines and more fines await anyone who refuses to treat authority with the respect it's forcibly requiring citizens to show it.
The law also extends its anti-protest punishments to social media, where users can face similar fines for doing nothing more than encouraging or organizing a protest. Failing to present ID when commanded is another fine. And then there's this:
Showing a "lack of respect" to those in uniform or failing to assist security forces in the prevention of public disturbances could result in an individual fine of between €600 and €30,000."

Following repeated denials that its members were complicit in Bush administration-era torture, leading group of psychologists faces a reckoning
The largest association of psychologists in the United States is on the brink of a crisis, the Guardian has learned, after an independent review revealed that medical professionals lied and covered up their extensive involvement in post-9/11 torture. The revelation, puncturing years of denials, has already led to at least one leadership firing and creates the potential for loss of licenses and even prosecutions.
For more than a decade, the American Psychological Association (APA) has maintained that a strict code of ethics prohibits its more than 130,000 members to aid in the torture of detainees while simultaneously permitting involvement in military and intelligence interrogations. The group has rejected media reporting on psychologists’ complicity in torture; suppressed internal dissent from anti-torture doctors; cleared members of wrongdoing; and portrayed itself as a consistent ally against abuse.

Vatic Note: Again, another act that violates our Constitutionally protected rights to privacy, a fair trial, non occupation of American citizens by our military. All are violations and the latter even has the Posse Comitatus law to back it up. The way they have chosen to hide the military aspect of this is by including local law enforcement. The question will be "Will these police officers fire on American civilians or on the military that is violating our Constitutionally protected rights?" Or will they turn and fire on the military that is proving they are the enemy of the state and engaging in full fledged TREASON.

Duelfer was appointed by CIA Director George Tenet to lead a massive search after an earlier massive search led by David Kay had determined that there were no WMD stockpiles in Iraq. Duelfer went to work in January 2004, to find nothing for a second time, on behalf of people who had launched a war knowing full well that their own statements about WMDs were not true.

Paulson and Goldman Sachs: A dirty secret of the Wall Street bailout
The article makes clear that at the heart of the rescue of AIG was a decision to use taxpayer funds to cover dollar for dollar the billions owed by the insurance firm to Wall Street banks that held credit default swap contracts with AIG. Credit default swaps play a central role in the vast edifice of speculation upon which the banks depend to reap huge profits and reward their top executives and traders with multi-million-dollar bonuses and pay packages.
By means of the unregulated credit default swap market, banks and corporations purchase insurance against the default of bonds issued by other banks and companies. If a seller of swaps—AIG was by far the biggest—goes bankrupt, its counterparties stand to lose billions and go bankrupt themselves.
This was precisely the position of major financial firms in September of 2008, when AIG was teetering on the brink of collapse. The Times cites Paulson’s spokeswoman, Michele Davis, as saying that government officials were concerned that both Goldman and investment bank Morgan Stanley “were in danger themselves of failing later in the week...”
No firm was more exposed than Goldman Sachs, the biggest and most profitable of the Wall Street investment houses, which stood to lose $13 billion in credit default swaps and other derivative contracts with AIG.
The Times article documents the fact that Paulson, who by law and ethics rules was prohibited from maintaining undue contact with his former bank, held dozens of telephone discussions with Blankfein on and around September 16, 2008, when Paulson and the Federal Reserve Board announced the bailout of AIG.
