Adults aged 50 and older who received Moderna’s or GSK’s flu vaccines had higher reported death rates than the normal flu death rates. The reported death rate was about 0.3%, much higher than the CDC flu mortality rates for these age groups. Study investigators said the deaths were similar across vaccine groups and did not show a clear safety issue.
