"I Don't Think There Should Be Any Debates" Says Pelosi, Calling Them An "Exercise In Skullduggery" Tyler Durden Thu, 08/27/2020 - 11:55

Nancy Pelosi has just joined the chorus of prominent Democrats trying desperately to avoid placing Joe Biden in front of the proverbial firing squad in a debate with President Trump.

"I don't think that there should be any debates," Pelosi said on Thursday, one day after President Trump demanded Biden take a drug test before the two square off.

"I wouldn't legitimize a conversation with him - nor a debate in terms of the presidency of the United States," she added.

Pelosi said that Trump was "disgraceful" when he 'stalked' Hillary Clinton during the 2016 debate by walking near her, and that he will probably "act in a way that is beneath the dignity of the presidency."

"I think he will also belittle what the debates are supposed to be about. And they're not to be about skulduggery on the part of somebody who has no respect for the office he holds, much less the democratic process.

"I don't think that he should dignify that conversation with Donald Trump."

Pelosi then suggested that each candidate could hold separate 'conversations' with voters, saying: "Let that be a conversation with the American people, not an exercise in skulduggery."

Pelosi is far from the first Democrat trying to avoid a Trump-Biden debate. As Rick Moran wrote via PJMedia earlier this month:

*  *  *

Democrats around the country have begun to pressure the Biden campaign to call off all debates with Donald Trump due to the coronavirus pandemic, they say.

In truth, the reason they don’t want Biden to debate Trump is that they don’t think Trump will play by their rules. The president would take over the debate and make it about what he wants, not what Biden wants.

Democrats are also worried about Biden’s mental stamina and his ability to remain engaged for an hour and a half during a debate.

Newsweek:

Democratic strategists and supporters of Vice President Joe Biden are urging him not to debate President Donald Trump in the lead-up to Election Day, citing Trump’s publicity stunts and disregard for the rules in 2016. Meanwhile Biden backers, including some conservatives, applauded the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan for cancelling their scheduled debates over COVID-19 concerns.

Former White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart joined several Democratic Party strategists in bluntly advising Biden, “whatever you do, don’t debate Trump.” Speaking on CNN Saturday, Lockhart said Trump shouldn’t be given another platform which will enable him to “repeat lies,” which he said occurred in the 2016 debates against Hillary Clinton.

Trump has a knack for exaggeration and hyperbole that Democrats don’t like. It’s very effective in debates and Biden would spend most of his time on the defensive.

CNN political analyst @joelockhart tells @smerconish that Joe Biden shouldn’t debate President Trump.

Trump “will take the truth and destroy it, and Biden will be in the position of correcting him over and over and over again. I don't think he should give him that platform.” pic.twitter.com/4EOR4Q9Um7

The Really Scary Part

logo-med.png

PLANDEMIC is an epic film documentary about covert efforts to create and spread a mutated respiratory virus in the world, brought to you by The World Health Organization and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, two organizations steeped in financial conflicts of interest, the latter masquerading as a philanthropic org.

Zig-zag health advice

Who in the world hasn’t been deluged with often confusing and contrary information since this pandemic officially began in late 2019 in Wuhan, China?  Lockdown “flattens the curve.”  Masks block spread of infection.  Or do they?  Social distancing (6 feet) is outside the airborne range of the virus expelled when coughing.  But studies say viral particles are airborne up to 12 feet.

Yes, but you will forever be vulnerable to this virus if you don’t get exposed to it and develop natural antibodies.  Why wait for a problematic vaccine when your (healthy) body will develop antibodies on its own?  Studies show that is precisely what has happened in Sweden, a country that did not lockdown or mandate face masks.

Whatever health practices are implemented out of fear may never be abandoned regardless of the contrary facts

Despite errant health advice about mask wearing, lockdowns and social distancing, once these practices were instilled by fear, it would now be almost impossible to abandon them since they provided peace of mind in a world without a licensed vaccine.

Countries that habitually wear masks @ 90%+ of the time have high COVID-19 mortality rates (examples: Chile, Bolivia, Guatemala).  Don’t tell the people this.  You’re taking away their false props against this dreaded disease.

Governments managing epidemics use them to gain political capital

The World Health Organization guidebook on how to handle epidemics forbids politicians from management epidemics.  That dictum is ignored in the US where governors of States have implemented draconian interpretations and practices on their residents.  What was needed were deaths, lots of deaths, to drive fear deep into the hearts of Americans.

Hospitals were given financial incentives to use reimbursement codes for COVID-19.  More than 80% of COVID-19 deaths involve co-morbid conditions like obesity, diabetes and autoimmunity.  Only 20% of deaths are due to COVID-19 coronavirus alone.  Subtract 80% of the reported COVID-19 deaths and you don’t have a scary pandemic.

Governors transferred COVID-19 infected patients from hospitals to nursing homes, a murderous error that resulted in many thousands of needless deaths.  Governors were over-counting deaths in hopes the mounting body bags would unseat a standing President from re-election.  The public was no wiser because the news media, pitched against the Executive Branch of the Federal government, continues to practice a blame game against the President.

Guidelines or legal mandates?

Once the scaremongering World Health Organization ushered in coercive voluntary lockdowns, mask wearing and anti-septic practices, these morphed into guidelines by public health agencies that news media then presented as legal mandates.   These practices were intended to keep so-called natural herd immunity from occurring and left the masses free of infection but no natural antibodies against the deadly virus.

The entire population of the world was now vulnerable to the mutated respiratory virus in circulation, for which there was no vaccine.

But lockdowns were only completely practiced in areas like China, which Bill Gates applauded.  He was miffed Americans were getting infected and surviving a bout of coronavirus almost without symptoms.  This would foil efforts to prove a vaccine works.

Quash real remedies

Furthermore, the indoor lockdown resulted in the crashing of sunshine vitamin D blood levels, a hormone/nutrient that is produced in the skin and stored in the liver during summer months.  A wintertime vitamin D deficiency explains the seasonal onset of infectious disease throughout the world.  Now everyone would need to be vaccinated, but only as long as vitamin D pills were dismissed as a natural antidote.

Draconian lifesaving practices leave no remaining life to live

Lockdowns destroyed businesses and left many millions with no future.  Live for today when there is no tomorrow.  What folly.

Social distancing and social gathering, particularly focused on churches, would keep the masses from developing their own narratives and create fear of each other.

Pre-planned phobia over spread of the virus by paper money

The world became phobic over an unseen virus that could even be spread by paper money.  Credit card companies were obviously behind that phobia and so was the World Economic Forum that wants to eradicate paper money and usher in a new worldwide digital currency in conjunction with Master Card, Microsoft and the International Monetary Fund, that has planned an economic reset for January 2021.

In the process, hand sanitizer sales went through the roof.  But viruses aren’t even alive.  They are globs of genetic information that only replicate inside a living cell.  Belatedly the Centers For Disease Control issued a lone paragraph in its volumes of advice to say physical contact with the virus wasn’t the common way the disease is spread, which is by aerosol transmission from infected lung to uninfected lung of a vulnerable subject whose immune system is not up to par.  But it is too late.  Grocery stores are cleaning shopping carts and asking customers to only touch what they buy.  Actually, no one dies of the COVID-29 coronavirus if they have a functioning immune system.

How to handle public pushback part of their plan

Public health agencies began discussion how to coerce a vaccine reluctant population to get immunized.  One such tactic is a vaccine passport, a document obtained by proof of antibodies against the COVID-19 coronavirus.  But then came an admission that health authorities had been hiding from the public since at least 1986 – zinc-dependent T cells, produced in the thymus gland, kill off virally infected cells in the lungs and elsewhere in the body, not antibodies.  So much for a vaccine passport.

But it’s not antibodies

Then another admission.  The human body doesn’t make long-term antibodies against this or any coronavirus or influenza virus.  This would render vaccination of such temporary benefit that it would be more appropriate to boost immunity naturally with vitamins (A, C, D) and trace minerals selenium and zinc.  But what to do with the billion-dollar stockpile of vaccines?

Vaccines were purchased before proven safety and effectiveness

Then given the contrived world health emergency, governments released funds to vaccine makers to develop a vaccine under fast track provisions as the death counts and body bags supposedly mounted.  There are seven other coronaviruses and no vaccine has ever been developed against them.

Not to matter, governments issued purchase orders to “vax-obscene fakers” to make billions of doses of vaccines with a promised mandate the masses will have to get inoculated.  The vaccines aren’t even vetted for safety let along effectiveness, and they pharma companies are counting their profits.  Their stock prices are soaring before one life has been saved.

Scripted

The whole epidemic was scripted 5 months prior in EVENT 201 conducted at Johns Hopkins Center For Health Security in what was called a pandemic drill.  Preparedness plans include how to censor anyone who spread false rumor about the vaccine.

And now for the scary part

And now for the scary part.  In the documentary film Plandemic, at about the 33:02-minute point, we learn that the World Health Organization’s GLOBAL MONITORING PREPAREDNESS BOARD in 2019, in its report entitled WORLD AT RISK, calls for a “simulation exercise” that has now morphed into reality.

Theirs is a “multi-year plan” with “progress indicators required by September 2020.”  Two pandemic exercises are planned (WORLD AT RISK, Foreward, Page 8).  “The United Nations (including WHO) conducts at least two systemwide training and simulation exercises…” by September 2020.  One pandemic must be “a rapidly spreading pandemic due to a lethal respiratory pathogen…”

Now for the remaining question:  As I write this prescient report, what is pandemic #2 that is supposed to be unleashed by September 2020?

It’s time to have an honest, rational conversation with your family

Guest Post by Simon Black

When the captain came on the announcement system yesterday morning to introduce himself to passengers, the first thing he said was,

“Ladies and gentlemen, a lot of us have been cooped up and under tremendous stress for the past several months. So the most important thing we can do right now is be kind, patient, and understanding with one another.”

It was an interesting way to start off a flight.

And I remember thinking to myself, “He probably wouldn’t bother saying something like that unless they’ve had some bad experiences recently with passengers fighting with one another.”

Sure enough, it didn’t take long before I heard an altercation between two passengers; ostensibly one of them had let her mandatory face covering slip ever-so-slightly below her nose. And a nearby passenger would have none of that.

It was even more interesting to me to witness the sense of entitlement that some people feel in barking orders to other human beings. They’re like Army Drill Sergeant shouting “Put your mask over your nose!”

This example, of course, barely scratches the surface of conflict these days. I’ve written before in these pages about people being pepper sprayed, or assaulted, for not wearing a mask.

I’m not even talking here about whether it’s right or wrong to wear I mask; I’m talking about the inability to people to engage in civil discourse.

There’s so much bottled up RAGE in the world… and it takes nothing anymore for that rage to explode and turn violent.

Masks are only one example. Social justice is another—rage quickly turns to violence and chaos.

Earlier this week an angry mob (of mostly white young people) swarmed restaurant customers whose only crime was dining outside in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The mob ran up to the restaurant tables and commanded the diners raise to raise their fists in solidarity, screaming “White silence is violence.”

You can’t even have lunch anymore without having to worry about being attacked by a violent mob.

And just last night in Wisconsin, rioters violently clashed with armed citizens in a literal gun battle that took place in the streets in America.

The mob had already torched private property, including, inexplicably, a car dealership. And several concerned citizens took it upon themselves to defend other property from the mob since the local government doesn’t seem willing or capable to do so.

And that’s when things became violent. At least two people are dead, and several shot.

Even something as simple as politics—which has long been a source of passionate and vocal disagreement—easily descends into violence and chaos.

These days, people are literally being beaten and battered for quietly expressing their political views. Countless others have been fired from their jobs.

It’s nearly impossible to have a rational discussion anymore, and this all constitutes a complete breakdown in the social fabric.

I figure many of us probably stare at our screens and watch these videos and news reports in utter disbelief. We can’t bring ourselves to acknowledge what has happened over these past few months.

But make no mistake– this is happening. This is not a figment of our imaginations. And it’s not going away.

Don’t be fooled into thinking it’s going to blow over. Or some politician is going to ride in on a white horse and make everything better.

In fact, in many cases, state and local governments are in on it… they’re fanning the flames of chaos, cheering on riots and dismissing the violence as “peaceful protests.”

I’ve been writing about this for years: you cannot depend on your government, and you cannot depend on the good nature of your fellow citizens. You really have yourself to rely on, first and foremost.

That’s why I’ve long encouraged our readers to have a Plan B.

A Plan B isn’t about doom and gloom. On the contrary—it’s about ensuring that you’re in a position of strength regardless of what happens, or doesn’t happen, next.

A Plan B is an acknowledgement that obvious risks exist… and a sensible approach to protect yourself from those risks.

Well, we’re not talking about ‘risks’ anymore, i.e. potential threats that -might- occur. We’re talking about terrible trends that HAVE happened… ARE happening… right in front of our very eyes.

Our brains work in a funny way in this regard; human beings often suffer what psychologists call “normalcy bias,” i.e. even when we see radical events taking place, we assume that everything will quickly go back to normal.

Seriously—does anyone honestly believe that these angry mobs will put down their torches and pitchforks and settle down? Does anyone honestly believe that after the election it will be all rainbows and buttercups?

Don’t fall into this trap. Don’t shrug off what’s happening and assume it will all go away. Remember the words of Medal of Honor recipient Admiral Jim Stockdale, who survived 7+ years in a Vietnamese prison camp:

You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—which you can never afford to lose– with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.”

It’s really time to have an honest, rational conversation with yourself and your family about obvious threats… and sensible solutions.

Manufactured Crisis: What Are You Going To Do?

ORIGINAL LINK

Guest Post by James Grundvig

At the Davos conclave in January, Klaus Schwab addressed the audience of globalists and elite financial architects: “The pandemic represents a rare but narrow window of opportunity to reflect, reimagine, and reset our world.” The pronouncement took place weeks before the novel coronavirus spread through the United States.

The ‘Global Economic Reset’ envisioned by Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum (“Forum”), placed him at the proscenium of the New World Order. On January 23, 2020, the Forum signed the final leg of the “Strategic Partnership Framework” with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Six months prior, the Forum and the United Nations signed the original framework outlining “areas of cooperation to deepen institutional engagement and jointly accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”

What took place over six months with little fanfare or media coverage was put in motion and described as a “rare but narrow window of opportunity” by Klaus Schwab who spoke boldly about how to change the world in his image. He wrote the Davos Manifesto in the 1970s and then updated it for 2020.

The plan wasn’t born yesterday, nor was it created overnight. Like the coronavirus, the plan needed a long runway to be developed and then released in stages. It required social conditioning. It also needed to appear natural while carrying the maximum effect to turn pockets of resistance into obedience, and one day into full submission of forced vaccinations.

What does that mean for the people of the earth? Unbeknownst to most of them, they would be taking part in the most significant social engineering and biologic experiment in human history.

First, all 193 member countries of the U.N. signed the resolution in 2015, putting unelected officials at the helm of changing society and the future of the planet. Next, they promised to adopt the 2030 sustainable development goals. Then, the Fortune 1000 corporations pledged their support. With the super alliance set to transform the world economic system and much more, one obstacle emerged: Donald J. Trump’s upset victory in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Trump’s ascendency disrupted and likely delayed the rollout of their plan. But only temporarily.

Two of the six program areas of Agenda 2030 focused on Health and Digital Cooperation of Klaus Schwab’s brainchild, the “Fourth Industrial Revolution.” In the former, the capture of health agencies, institutions, and stakeholders of medicine and science needed an event to “vaccinate the world.” Bill Gates, a Forum collaborator and sponsor, famously made that call to action during his numerous TV appearances about the Covid-19 pandemic. In the latter, Schwab and Gates saw the omnipresent Orwellian importance of data collection, data surveillance, and profile analysis of every human on earth as key to implementing and completing the takeover.

Control by Social Engineering

To achieve biosurveillance of all people, the planners needed to launch a pandemic with lockdowns and shelter-in-place orders and included shutting down brick and mortar businesses around the world. It also required experts to amplify the fear of “emerging global health threats,” like the hoax measles outbreak in New York and Samoa and the Ebola outbreak in the Congo.

With all the social engineering and arbitrary rules rolled out, societies were no longer dealing with the threat of the virus per se, but the friction of people trying to obey and comply. In the United Kingdom, political scientists saw the disputes as a threat to the plan and published an eight-page guide, “Options for increasing adherence to social distancing measures.”

They needed tighter control. The options included Education, Persuasion through “emotional messaging,” Incentivization, Coercion, and Enablement vis-à-vis “community resourcing.”

The paper declared:

“A substantial number of people still do not feel sufficiently personally threatened… The perceived level of personal threat needs to be increased among those who are complacent, using hard-hitting emotional messaging.”

The messaging they chose wasn’t really about health and wellbeing. No, the pandemic was really about social control. When it was finally uncovered that the tech giants, Big Pharma, the multinational news corporations, and all level of government had signed on to the U.N.-Forum’s agenda, it became obvious how the masters of the “Plandemic” implemented those controls with fascist lockstep synchronicity.

  • They control the news
  • They control the information
  • They control the money
  • They control the people

Thus, they controlled the narrative.

They captured control of all of humanity beginning with rules that at first seemed logical to contain the contagion. Wear masks, maintain social distances, shelter-in-place, and shutdown places where people meet and congregate. Some of the shutdowns were arbitrarily labeled “non-essential businesses.” That included bars, cafes, taverns, restaurants, stores, private shops, churches, schools, colleges, parks, beaches, gyms, hair salons, and on and on.

The news pumped out daily articles about how the temporary measures were “for your wellness and safety.” The articles were funneled through the digital and social media gatekeepers of Google, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and telecom providers. Every radio and television commercial reminded us to follow the rules to “be safe.” That ensured any truthful opposition would be censored, banned, and shutdown.

The plan also achieved another objective: It blocked people from meeting in person to complain and disallowed groups from forming that would be large enough to revolt. Were the people divided as part of a 2020 strategy to disrupt the upcoming presidential election? Were the shutdowns designed to stop Trump from gathering support and supporters at rallies?

The obvious answers to both are yes. It should be clear that the U.N.-Forum/Gates-Event 201 axis wants to remove anything that would block the implementation of the full 2030 Agenda.

The temporary nature of the measures – as promised – has yet to be removed. Lockdowns in international locations, such as New Zealand and Australia are extreme despite data showing the outbreaks and deaths have become negligible. To pile on to the faulty statistics, the CDC invented a new term, “Twindemic.” That’s a combo of seasonal flu and coronavirus statistics, a nice marketing ploy to keep the masses in fear and uncertainty. Like shaming people for non-compliance, doubt and fear are tools they have used since the start of this global disaster.

Coronavirus in Sewage and Flu Vaccines

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control recently announced it was monitoring the sewer systems for traces of the COVID virus. This isn’t new; they have surveilled sewer systems for pathogens going back to the 20th century. Scientists in Northern Italy claimed they found coronavirus in their sewer systems last December. The same finding happened around the same time in France.

In April, an Italian news site wrote:

“From 60 tests that I conducted by obtaining patient data… 58 had received flu vaccines. Young intubated people had used VaxiGrip Tetra, which is also intended for children…..All the strains contained in this year’s flu shots were reported by the WHO in early 2019, and contained two (2) strains of coronavirus (inactivated). It is not a secondary matter.”

For Italy, the vaccines “under observation” are Fluad 2019-2020, Influvac-S Tetra, Influvac-S, and Vaxigrip Tetra.

That proposes a serious question: Was the coronavirus released in Wuhan at its biowarfare lab AND spread worldwide by influenza vaccines last year?

If that’s the case, it would explain:

  • How the virus mutated so quickly
  • The sudden appearance of corona-illness in some areas of the world, but not in others
  • Why the virus was isolated on some cruise ships, but not others
  • Why the elderly, especially those living in nursing homes, were much more vulnerable and had worse outcomes; flu shots are handed out like a special type of candy in long-term care facilities

Human Mice in a Maze

This social engineering experiment is about control. It’s a dry-run to see how much people are willing to tolerate and how many are willing to be obedient and compliant. When will they crack? When will they wave the white flag and surrender…or when will they revolt?

Experimenting to find the emotional breaking points while collecting and analyzing their DNA obtained through obligatory testing, The Powers That Be (TPTB) are learning the correct messaging to implement total control over the global population. They are determining how to roll out the next forms of coercion, from a cashless society to immunity passports and the use of mandatory vaccination.

They are determined to identify the brave, bold resisters to label them with a “Scarlet Letter” – a mobile app, a wristband, an ankle bracelet or a red flag hung on a house as they did in Samoa last year over an outbreak of the measles.

After the rules are fully implemented, forced vaccinations will be coming to a doorstep near you. We the People still have a window of opportunity to resist and revolt. What are you going to do, given the choice to die on your feet or live on your knees? What is freedom worth to you?

Authored by Paul Joseph Watson via Summit News,

A CNN reporter described the mayhem in Kenosha as “mostly peaceful” even as cars set on fire by rioters burned behind him.

Omar Jimenez describes “multiple locations that have been burning in Kenosha, Wisconsin over the course of the night” before characterizing the unrest as “largely peaceful.”

The CNN chyron below Jimenez described the events as “fiery but mostly peaceful.”

Next time someone’s house is burning down, I’m sure the scene will be described as “fiery but mostly peaceful.”

Earlier this week, CBS News pulled a similar stunt when host Gayle King described “a second day of peaceful protests, which is what the Black Lives Matter is really about.”

In reality, there have been no “peaceful” protests in Kenosha. Every night has been a running battle between police and rioters.

Every night, car dealerships were set ablaze, stores were looted and people trying to protect their businesses were viciously assaulted.

A second day of peaceful protests gave way to clashes overnight in Wisconsin.

This comes after 29-year-old Jacob Blake was shot multiple times in the back by police as he tried to get into his car. He remains hospitalized in stable condition.@MolaReports has the latest. pic.twitter.com/4Ljb0hZFq0

Reporters covering RNC turn to 'sly editorializing'

ORIGINAL LINK

ap_logo.jpg

(JUST THE NEWS) -- As the 2020 Republican National Convention heads toward its conclusion Thursday night, media coverage of the event — and in particular of the president headlining it — has in many notable cases eschewed neutral, fact-based reporting in favor of something more akin to sly editorializing.

A barrage of biased news reports presented as fact-based journalism over the last few days may afford a preview of an election season sure to test the professional distance of journalists who have struggled throughout the years to report objectively and impartially on the Trump administration and, especially, the president himself.

Such bias was seen, for example, at The Hill, where reporter Niall Stanage on Wednesday claimed that the Republican National Convention is attempting to "detoxify Trump," with Republicans struggling to prove that the president "isn't a racist, a sexist or a xenophobe."

Lockdowns and Mask Mandates Do Not Lead to Reduced COVID Transmission Rates or Deaths, New Study Suggests

ORIGINAL LINK

8.26.20 – AIER

“Lockdowns and Mask Mandates Do Not Lead to Reduced COVID Transmission Rates or Deaths, New Study Suggests”

By Stephen C. Miller

Excerpts from this article:

…The paper’s conclusion is that the data trends observed above likely indicate that nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) – such as lockdowns, closures, travel restrictions, stay-home orders, event bans, quarantines, curfews, and mask mandates – do not seem to affect virus transmission rates overall.

Given the observation that transmission rates for COVID-19 fell virtually everywhere in the world during this early pandemic period, we [authors of this paper] are concerned that these studies may substantially overstate the role of government-mandated NPIs in reducing disease transmission due to an omitted variable bias.

One of the key candidates for the key “omitted variable,” i.e. the true cause of the decline in transmission rates after the first month of an epidemic, is that human interaction does not conform to simple epidemiological models. In the real world human social networks overlap in such a way that a virus can spread rapidly for a short period of time, as some people contact more networks than others, but reaches natural dead-ends and roundabouts where potential new hosts in a “new” social network have already been exposed through other networks. The effect can resemble what some think of as “herd immunity,” but at relatively low infection rates.

The authors reason that even if NPIs were effective early on, they do not appear to be anymore:

Moreover, given the observation that disease transmission rates have remained low with relatively low dispersion across locations worldwide for the past several months as NPIs have been lifted, we are concerned that estimates of the effectiveness of NPIs in reducing disease transmission from the earlier period may not be relevant for forecasting the impact of the relaxation of those NPIs in the current period, due to some unobserved switch in regime.

This study provides strong statistical support for what so many have been observing for six months. The epidemic has a natural tendency to spread quickly at first and slow down, seemingly on its own, a point made not only here but as early as April 14 by Isaac Ben-Israel. Meanwhile governors imagine that very specific rules for opening bars and restaurants are the key to containment.

Governments have conducted an unprecedented social, economic, and political experiment in controlling whole populations’ behavior, with high economic and human cost. The authors ask the right question: has this experiment in government-managed virus control and suppression made a difference? The startling answer they found, after examining data from around the country and the world, is that the evidence simply is not there.

If we are concerned about the evidence on this global experiment, we must concede that most government authorities have likely acted in error.

The Wheat-Field Principle

logo-med.png

In 1946, Juan Perón was elected president of a prosperous country: Argentina.

He promised great social benefits to the common man, under justicialismo (social justice). This “justice” was never actually defined; it was more implied: If you’re a common man, the Perón government will favour you over the “rich.”

This he demonstrated through forced wage increases and other benefits. Railroads and utilities were nationalised (stolen from their owners by the government). In addition, extensive, but often unnecessary, public works projects were undertaken.

Work ethic and personal achievement took a back seat to being well-connected. Increasingly, success was the result of bribes to government leaders and officials.

The overall result of these actions was that the economy sank and the very businesses that were bled to provide the largesse given to the common man were no longer able to pay the ever-increasing cost of entitlements.

This led, not to an obvious reversal of the socially and economically destructive policies, but to an increased reliance on the military and a growing police state. Constitutional liberties were removed and any opposition was punished.

Although the “man of the people” campaign promises from Mister Perón had been welcomed in 1946, by 1955, it became apparent that they had led to inflation, increased poverty, corruption and political oppression.

Amid broad public discontent, Mister Perón was ousted from office. The subsequent government advised the electorate that, for the economy to recover, they must accept a loss of entitlements. Such was the payback to recover from the mistakes of socialism.

Perón went into exile, but amazingly, he was returned to office by the electorate in 1973 (and died in office the following year).

Since that time, Argentina has gone through cycles that have each begun with a new “saviour” candidate promising greater largesse from the government, winning the election, then instituting a revised Peronist model. In every case, it would end in inflation, increased poverty, corruption and political oppression two or three terms later.

Following the inevitable economic decline, a more conservative administration would be voted in. There would be a brief period of correction – fiscally sound governmental polices. Under such administrations, entitlements would be diminished and Argentina would begin to return to a sound economic footing.

But these periods of responsible governance would rarely last more than one term. Before the transition to full prosperity could be completed, the next election would result in a return to the Peronist model.

If the above description sounds repetitive, it is. The cycles have repeated for 73 years, with the odd interruption of military rule.

The result has been that Argentina, a once-highly productive country, has become a banana republic and has remained that way. There are significant periods of socialism, interrupted with brief corrections – attempts to refloat the economy – only to dive once more, headlong, into socialism.

And yet the Argentine people are, for the most part, educated and industrious. Why on earth does this conundrum continue after so many blatant failures?

The answer is human nature. Once a people have decided to cease to act responsibly, once they’ve decided to pass the decision-making to the government, they slide into a childlike existence in which they cease to bother to look any further into the future than their next governmental handout.

Once a people have become this shortsighted, they’re easily manipulated into forgetting the pain of past errors and are suckers for renewed empty promises.

It should be borne in mind that those who have watched Argentina closely over the years maintain hope that Argentines will one day “wake up” and recognize that the 73-year experiment has only brought repeated hardship; that they’ll return to an understanding that, in order to have a sound economy, they must accept that socialist concepts are invariably doomed to failure.

This hope was particularly high in 2015, when an accomplished businessman, Mauricio Macri, ran for office at the end of the disastrous reign of Cristina Fernández. He won the election – the first true conservative candidate to do so since the early 1940s.

There were many people who then said, “Finally – the electorate have seen the light.”

Sorry to say, although I wished that this might be true, on hearing the results of the election, I predicted that Mister Macri would be a one-term-only president. If Mister Macri were to usher in a new era of fiscal responsibility, he would need at least two terms of recovery to re-stabilise the country, then another two terms or more of prosperity for the lesson to sink in – to build up the prosperity.

There was no chance, in my view, that he could complete the task within four years. Consequently, he’d be voted out.

I term this conundrum the “wheat-field principle.” The same people who voted for redemption from a failed system will, in a subsequent election, reverse their vote.

So, how does this principle manifest itself?

Well, the pundits who predict elections tend to imagine that “the people” of a country have a change of heart and, accordingly, a change of leadership occurs. If not, the existing leadership remains.

This is never what actually occurs.

Instead, any country will always have a hardcore conservative group – mostly employers and other businesspeople – who almost invariably vote for the conservative candidate. It will also have the wage earners and the civil service, etc., who have a limited ability to increase their own income. They hope that a liberal leader will provide them with benefits that they cannot create for themselves through their limited abilities and ambitions. The latter group almost invariably vote for the liberal candidate.

In the middle are a percentage of the electorate – less than 25%, but often even less, who wave back and forth… like a wheat field. When a liberal candidate makes empty promises to make life better, they vote liberal. But when those promises prove to be empty and the economy craters, the wheat field, reluctantly, vote conservative.

The significance of this is that the wheat field have not ceased to want entitlements. In fact, they remain hopeful that entitlements can return. They’re uninterested in why socialism doesn’t work; they simply want to be told that things will be better this time.

It’s for this reason that, time after time, the Argentine wheat field that voted for a return to fiscal responsibility in one election, become the swing vote again in the next election, returning the country once again to socialism.

History shows that countries discard socialism only if it has brought the economy to the bottom and kept it there long enough for a fundamental change in thinking amongst an electorate. If not, the same wheat field that voted conservative in one election will blow the other way four years later – and that will be true in most any country.

Ex-NFL player at RNC: Media's narrative on Trump's Charlottesville comment was a complete lie

Speaking on Night Three of the Republican National Convention on Wednesday, former NFL player Jack Brewer blasted the media narrative that Donald Trump once called white supremacists "very fine people."

The narrative Brewer addressed involves Trump's response to the infamous Charlottesville Unite the Right Rally in 2017.

Some protesters at the rally were protesting the removal of a statue, while others were members of antifa, neo-Nazis and white supremacists.

Although the White House transcript of Trump's remarks revealed that the president fully condemned all of the white supremacists present, the media and Joe Biden have addressed those comments as though Trump was calling the white supremacists themselves "very fine people."

Brewer addressed the Charlottesville comments and the media coverage of them. He was speaking at the RNC despite being removed from the list of speakers due to recent insider trading charges, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

He began by pleading with the American people to stop letting their distaste for Trump blind them from seeing the truth.

"At some point, for the sake of our children, the policies must take priority over the personalities," Brewer said. "So because you have an issue with President Trump's tone, you're going to allow Biden and Harris to deny our underserved black and brown children school choice?"

"Are we so offended by the president's campaign slogan 'Make America Great Again' that we're going to ignore that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have collectively been responsible for locking up countless black men for non-violent crimes?"

Brewer then blasted the media for its coverage of Charlottesville.

"Are you going to allow the media to lie to you by falsely claiming that he said there are 'very fine' white supremacists in Charlottesville?" Brewer asked.

"He didn't say that. It's a lie."

On August 12, Biden disseminated the false narrative on Twitter.

Three years ago today, white supremacists descended on Charlottesville with torches in hand and hate in their hearts. Our president said they were "very fine people."

It was clear then, and it's clear now: We are in a battle for the soul of our nation, and we must win.

"Three years ago today, white supremacists descended on Charlottesville with torches in hand and hate in their hearts. Our president said they were 'very fine people,'" Biden wrote.

"It was clear then, and it's clear now: We are in a battle for the soul of our nation, and we must win."

A closer look at the White House transcript of Trump's comments reveal that he did, in fact, denounce the white supremacists in Charlottesville.

“You had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides,” Trump said then. “You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name.

“And you had people — and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists — because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. OK? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly.”

When asked if he meant the media was treating white nationalists unfairly, Trump further clarified he in no way supported their actions.

“No, no.  There were people in that rally — and I looked the night before — if you look, there were people protesting very quietly the taking down of the statue of Robert E. Lee. I’m sure in that group there were some bad ones. The following day it looked like they had some rough, bad people — neo-Nazis, white nationalists, whatever you want to call them,” Trump explained.

“But you had a lot of people in that group that were there to innocently protest, and very legally protest — because I don’t know if you know, they had a permit. The other group didn’t have a permit. So I only tell you this: There are two sides to a story. I thought what took place was a horrible moment for our country — a horrible moment. But there are two sides to the country.”

The Charlottesville lie surfaced again last week at the Democratic National Convention, when Biden -- echoing his tweet from a few days earlier -- repeated the falsehood in a speech.
