Rep. Anna Paulina Luna Says FBI is Afraid Biden Informant Will Be Killed if Identity is Released

ORIGINAL LINK

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is afraid its informant who provided information about an alleged bribery scheme by the Biden family will be killed if their identity is exposed.

The alleged $5 million bribery scheme occurred while Joe Biden was serving as Barack Obama’s vice president.

“Just left meeting for House Oversight. The FBI is afraid their informant will be killed if unmasked, based on the info he has brought forward about the Biden family,” Luna tweeted on Monday.

The congresswoman added that “According to the @FBI , Biden as VP was involved in a 5 million dollar bribery scheme with a foreign national.”

Luna also discussed the situation with Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures over the weekend.

“You know, over the last couple of months, House Oversight as well as the staff that helps us run the investigations has proven that we’ve actually been able to provide evidence,” Luna said. “You know, before there were speculation on the Ponzi scheme for influence peddling and also the personal enrichment of the Biden family. And now what we’re finding is that these are no longer allegations and we’re creating a hard case.”

It’s simple: Christopher Wray needs to do his job & answer to Congress, or else he will be held in contempt. What we’re seeing with the Biden family’s bribery schemes is clearly grounds for impeachment.

— Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (@RepLuna) June 5, 2023

Luna continued, “In my opinion, Maria, what we’re seeing right now, if this is true, which I do believe that it is true, in regards to Joe Biden receiving briberies and Hunter Biden, I do believe that this is grounds for impeachment. And so it’s important that we continue to move forward to bring this to the American people, but also to that we I think, do a housecleaning within our DOJ because as you had stated earlier, they are protecting this family, the FBI is protecting the Hunter Biden family, and it’s not okay.”

Gaslighting: The American People Are Trapped In A Textbook Abusive Relationship

ORIGINAL LINK

gaslighting.jpg

Technocracy’s prime directive in the 1930s was to master the “Science of Social Engineering”. Without ethical restraints, Pandora’s Box was opened with “anything goes” in the name of technocratic progress. Gaslighting becomes a primary tool in the propagandist’s toolbox when other propaganda techniques become ineffective. The danger with a gaslit population? Don’t light a match. ⁃ TN Editor

Imagine this.

A woman, for the sake of my story, is in a marriage with a partner who does not respect her. He insults her regularly, belittles her efforts to improve herself or her situation, and minimizes her feelings.

In fact, when she tries to stand up for herself, things get even worse. The partner calls into question her memories of the event. He dismisses the way things made her feel, calling the emotions “ridiculous” or “stupid.” He convinces her she’s overreacting and that he was only trying to do what was best for her. When she brings something up, he completely rewrites the event, causing her to doubt what actually happened because she’s in a vulnerable state due to the constant abuse.

In a situation like this, the abused partner often feels powerless, confused, and unable to leave the situation. They are at a disadvantage because they’ve been influenced to doubt their own reality. This leaves them trapped deeper and deeper in the abusive scenario. They feel unable to escape because they’re really not sure what actually happened. Were they blowing things out of proportion? Are they, in fact, stupid, forgetful, and inept?

Abusive relationships follow a pattern. There’s a period of breaking the victim down, isolating them from their support systems, and making them dependent on the abuser. Then, the abused partner is maneuvered into the belief that she can’t get by on her own.

This master manipulation is how people become trapped in abusive relationships.

And, as I’m about to show, not all abusive relationships are one-on-one romantic relationships.

What is gaslighting?

Medical News Today defines gaslighting.

Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse in which a person or group causes someone to question their own sanity, memories, or perception of reality. People who experience gaslighting may feel confused, anxious, or as though they cannot trust themselves.

The term “gaslighting” comes from the 1944 classic film (and before that, the play), Gaslight. In the story, a husband tries to make his wife believe she is suffering from a mental illness. Starring Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer, it’s well worth a watch.

Gaslighting is a form of narcissistic abuse. For a quick refresher on the definition of a narcissist and the techniques they use, go here.

Forbes offers the following signs you are being gaslit:

Signs to watch for include:

The “Twilight Zone” effect. Victims of gaslighting often report feeling like a situation is surreal—like it’s happening on a different plane from the rest of their life.

Language describing you or your behavior as crazy, irrational or overemotional. “When I asked women about their partners’ abusive tactics, they often described being called a ‘crazy bitch,’” Sweet writes in “The Sociology of Gaslighting” in American Sociological Review. “This phrase came up so frequently, I began to think of it as the literal discourse of gaslighting.”

Being told you’re exaggerating.

Feeling confused and powerless after leaving an interaction.

Isolation. Many gaslighters make efforts to isolate victims from friends, family and other support networks.

Tone policing. A gaslighter may criticize your tone of voice if you challenge them on something. This is a tactic used to flip the script and make you feel that you’re the one to blame, rather than your abuser.

A cycle of warm-cold behavior. To throw a victim off balance, a gaslighter may alternate between verbal abuse and praise, often even in the same conversation.

Gaslighting is a deliberate attempt to provoke self-doubt, confusion, and dependence.

How does someone gaslight another person?

Again, let’s look to the experts. Medical News Today provides these examples of how gaslighting might take place:

  • Countering: This is when someone questions a person’s memory. They may say things such as, “Are you sure about that? You have a bad memory,” or “I think you are forgetting what really happened.”
  • Withholding: This involves someone pretending they do not understand the conversation, or refusing to listen, to make a person doubt themselves. For example, they might say, “Now you are just confusing me,” or “I do not know what you are talking about.”
  • Trivializing: This occurs when a person belittles or disregards how someone else feels. They may accuse them of being “too sensitive” or overreacting in response to valid and reasonable concerns.
  • Denial: Denial involves a person refusing to take responsibility for their actions. They may do this by pretending to forget what happened, saying they did not do it, or blaming their behavior on someone else.
  • Diverting: With this technique, a person changes the focus of a discussion by questioning the other person’s credibility. For example, they might say, “That is just nonsense you read on the internet. It is not real.”
  • Stereotyping: An article in the American Sociological Review says that a person may intentionally use negative stereotypes about someone’s gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, nationality, or age to gaslight them. For example, they may say that no one will believe a woman if she reports abuse.

After a period of time, this emotional barrage results in the target of the gaslighting suffering from confusion, doubt, and self-blame.

  • feeling uncertain of their perceptions
  • frequently questioning if they are remembering things correctly
  • believing they are irrational or “crazy”
  • feeling incompetent, unconfident, or worthless
  • constantly apologizing to the abusive person
  • defending the abusive person’s behavior to others
  • becoming withdrawn or isolated from others

The Forbes article offered these specific examples of gaslighting in romantic relationships.

“Ebony’s partner would steal her money and then tell her she was ‘careless’ about finances and had lost it herself.”

“Adriana’s boyfriend hid her phone and then told her she had lost it, in a dual effort to confuse her and prevent her from communicating with others.”

“Jenn described her ex-boyfriend as a ‘chameleon’ who made up small stories to confuse her, like lying about what color shirt he had worn the day before to make her feel disoriented.”

“Emily described her ex-husband stealing her keys so she could not leave the house and then insisting she had lost them ‘again.’”

But if you think this phenomenon is limited to women being abused by their husbands or boyfriends, you’d be wrong.

Gaslighting doesn’t just happen in romantic relationships.

Gaslighting is a complicated thing. While it’s common in abusive romantic relationships, it can also occur in unhealthy parent-child relationships, sibling relationships, or even workplaces. But that’s not all. It can also occur on a much broader scale.

Racial gaslighting

According to an article in Politics, Group, and Identities, racial gaslighting is when people apply gaslighting techniques to an entire racial or ethnic group in order to discredit them. For example, a person or institution may say that an activist campaigning for change is irrational or “crazy.”

Political gaslighting

Political gaslighting occurs when a political group or figure lies or manipulates information to control people, according to an article in the Buffalo Law Review.

For example, the person or political party may downplay things their administration has done, discredit their opponents, imply that critics are mentally unstable, or use controversy to deflect attention away from their mistakes.

Institutional gaslighting

Institutional gaslighting occurs within a company, organization, or institution, such as a hospital. For example, they may portray whistleblowers who report problems as irrational or incompetent, or deceive employees about their rights.

This often occurs to cover up a mistake that could result in the person who erred facing punitive consequences or to keep people “in their place.” It’s a control mechanism, pure and simple.

Have we been gaslit by our own government?

I don’t think it’s farfetched to say that we, the people of the United States of America, have been gaslit.

Does this sound familiar? Lockdowns that keep you away from friends and loved ones? Losing your income and becoming dependent on handouts doled out by the government? Being censored and mocked when you say anything that is not in line with the official narrative? Being treated like a crazy conspiracy theorist who should be punished because of the harm you’re causing to others if you refuse to go along?

When you look at it this way, it feels like the entire US government and media have colluded to abuse the people. Many of the Covid-related “truths” that were promoted by the government and the media that we were not allowed to dispute have now been proven to be false. Stories we couldn’t question about the origins of the pandemic have been proven false. In another incident of broad-scale gaslighting unrelated to the pandemic, a lot of evidence has been produced that shows the Biden family may have received money from influence-peddling, but the media tells us not to believe it.

And like good little victims, it seems like a hefty portion of the country is refusing to believe the evidence, instead believing in the good intentions of their abusers. They’ve been gaslit, brainwashed, and are unable to break free of the manipulation.

And it’s still going on.

Recently Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote a scathing opinion of the US government’s handling of the Covid pandemic, saying that we “have experienced the greatest intrusions on civil liberties in the peacetime history of this country.”

“Executive officials across the country issued emergency decrees on a breathtaking scale. Governors and local leaders imposed lockdown orders forcing people to remain in their homes. They shuttered businesses and schools, public and private. They closed churches even as they allowed casinos and other favored businesses to carry on. They threatened violators not just with civil penalties but with criminal sanctions too. They surveilled church parking lots, recorded license plates, and issued notices warning that attendance at even outdoor services satisfying all state social-distancing and hygiene requirements could amount to criminal conduct. They divided cities and neighborhoods into color-coded zones, forced individuals to fight for their freedoms in court on emergency timetables, and then changed their color-coded schemes when defeat in court seemed imminent,” he said.

At the federal level, he highlighted not only immigration decrees but vaccine mandates, the regulation of landlord-tenant relations and pressure on social media companies to suppress “misinformation.”

The gaslighting blowback was immediate, with breathlessly outraged headlines.

Slate eloquently opined, “Neil Gorsuch’s List of “Civil Liberties Intrusions” Is, Uh, Missing a Few Things.” making sure to throw plenty of insulting talking points into their introductory paragraph in their attempt to liken a Supreme Court Justice who was educated at Harvard Law, Oxford, Georgetown, and Columbia, to an ignorant relative one merely tolerates. And they insinuated he was a racist.

Gorsuch has long railed against such policies, and his opinions have taken on an increasingly shrill tone, like the Fox News–poisoned uncle who hectors you about the plandemic in 3,000-word Facebook comments. The justice’s rant in Arizona v. Mayorkas, however, hits a new low, moving beyond the usual yada-yada grievance parade to issue a thesis statement of sorts…

…As Vox’s Ian Millhiser quickly pointed out, this sweeping claim leaves out two “intrusions on civil liberties” that any person with a basic grasp of history and sanity would surely rank as worse than pandemic policies: slavery and Jim Crow.

An opinion piece published in the NY Times gasped, “Neil Gorsuch Has Given Himself Away,” made it seem as if the Justice was belittling every other civil rights mishap in the history of America while also blithely disregarding the folks who died during the pandemic.

The New Republic condescendingly liberal-splained to the rest of us “What Neil Gorsuch Got Wrong About the Pandemic,” stating that “The justice’s vision of the judiciary’s role in public health may be more dangerous than any Covid-era restriction.”

The site Above The Law literally said Gorsuch was stupid in the piece, “For An Originalist, Gorsuch Is Clearly Slacking On His Definitions And Their Historical Meanings.” The subheading reads, “Is what he said stupid? Yes. But let’s be technical here.”

Law and Crime website also played the race card and did so right in the headline: Neil Gorsuch implies COVID restrictions were worse than slavery and Jim Crow, and the internet noticed.

Let’s look at that definition of political gaslighting again…

For example, the person or political party may downplay things their administration has done, discredit their opponents, imply that critics are mentally unstable, or use controversy to deflect attention away from their mistakes.

Oof. If that textbook case of gaslighting isn’t embarrassing, it should be.  Then again, narcissists are rarely embarrassed.

The gaslighting will escalate.

Another thing about narcissists: they just get angry when they’re called out. They will respond by gaslighting you harder or seeking to “ruin” you. (source) They’ll punish you with a loss of “privileges,” money, material goods, and freedom. We’ve watched it happen again and again in our cancel culture media. Some of us have been unfortunate enough to have personal relationships with narcissists and learned this the hard way.

The only way to end narcissistic abuse and gaslighting is to recognize it and remove yourself from the situation as much as you can. Obviously, when it’s our entire government and society, that becomes complicated. You may be stuck with just recognizing it. But that in itself gives you a certain amount of freedom and personal power. It helps you get off the hamster wheel, and you begin to spot the manipulations more easily.

One thing we can be sure of is that this will escalate as more and more people say, “No, that’s not what happened.” This is something we can expect, and in some small way, maybe we can take comfort in the response. Perhaps we can smile to ourselves because we know those who were trying to manipulate us all are on the defensive.

But what do you think? Do you believe the mainstream media, the liberal pundits, social media, and our government are gaslighting us? Do you think they’re trying to get us to remember the events of the pandemic differently than how those events actually unfolded? Have you ever experienced gaslighting on a personal level? What do you believe is the best way to handle this?

Think About It

Really, the utterly treasonous Uniparty is pushing for a $4 trillion increase to the existing $31 trillion+ federal debt burden?!?!

For folks who are not yet aware, POTUS Imposter Joe Biden and super RINO Speaker Kevin McCarthy are staging the most important Kabuki Theater show of their patently fraudulent political careers.  They are both, along with a very large supporting cast of traitors in Congress and elsewjere, cunningly colluding behind the backs of both the Right and the Left.

Both of these Kabuki clowns — Biden & McCarthy — are working very closely (but obviously in secret) to deliberately deceive the American people regarding the inevitable debt default disaster.  Of course, they’re also collaborating with the likes of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen (the woman who only knows how to “cry wolf”) to kick the can down the road yet again.  In so doing, these three traitors have knowingly and willfully guaranteed an even bigger financial catastrophe for the U.S. Corporation, the bankruptcy of which will plunge the United States into Third World conditions.

In point of fact, every single major player in this rapidly unfolding tragedy has been quite purposefully typecast and positioned over the course of their criminal careers to play their current cataclysmic role.  For example, this is why the Khazarian Cabal criminally installed Biden in the White House; they know he will betray the U.S. citizenry as no other POTUS in history.  Same goes for the deceptively treacherous Kevin McCarthy; all he does his betray the many conservative causes of the House Freedom Caucus which is why his tumultuous election was turned into such an unprecedented rejection circus.  As for Janet Yellen, just listen to her for 5 seconds to apprehend the shocking level of unrelenting perfidy, prevarication and chicanery that she employs during each and every congressional hearing.

Here are the Irish-American bad actors Biden and McCarthy being stage-managed by their Khazarian handler Chuck Schumer.

Notice how these Three Amigos have conspired to add $4 trillion dollars to the federal debt limit lasting until January of 2025 so that Biden will be free and clear of the fiscal calamity that his Khazarian-infested administration is triggering.  You can bet that whoever is installed in the Oval Office at that time will be a ‘bankruptcy expert’ like Trump; and that the most culpable Democrats and RINOs will be no where near the biggest crime scene in recorded history.

The key point here is that the new $35 trillion debt burden is being intentionally created for two primary reasons: (i) to maximize the federal debt to such an inordinate level that the United States government will be compelled to go into default and (ii) to provide more time for the Khazarian Mafia to steal another $4 trillion dollars from American taxpayers.

Certainly there are many other nefarious objectives for carrying out this BIGGEST heist in world history, but these are just a couple.  Were the American people to understand the true reasons for so much graft and outright misappropriation of funds from the US Treasury, they would burn down the House in a D.C. flash.

More significantly, were the people to understand that the same stolen funds were used to kill and injure, incapacitate and debilitate them, they would storm the Capitol with torches and pitchforks in hand.  For example, the COVID-19 Plandemic, as well as the Covid Super Vaccination Agenda, have already proven that the US government spent hundreds of billions of dollars to conduct a naked genocide against the American people.

How’s that, folks?!?!  We have all been paying for our own mass torture and mass murder.  And the Khazarian perps are still stealing US blind to fund their next mass extermination of the populace.

Twitter owner Elon Musk invited Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for a discussion on his Twitter Spaces after Kennedy said his campaign was suspended by Meta-owned Instagram.

Interesting… when we use our TeamKennedy email address to set up @instagram accounts we get an automatic 180-day ban. Can anyone guess why that’s happening?” he wrote on Twitter.

An accompanying image shows that Instagram said it “suspended” his “Team Kennedy” account and that there “are 180 days remaining to disagree” with the company’s decision.

In response to his post, Musk wrote: “Would you like to do a Spaces discussion with me next week?” Kennedy agreed, saying he would do it Monday at 2 p.m. ET.

Hours later, Kennedy wrote that Instagram “still hasn’t reinstated my account, which was banned years ago with more than 900k followers.” He argued that “to silence a major political candidate is profoundly undemocratic.”

“Social media is the modern equivalent of the town square,” the candidate, who is the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, wrote. “How can democracy function if only some candidates have access to it?”

The Epoch Times approached Instagram for comment.

It’s not the first time that either Facebook or Instagram has taken action against Kennedy. In 2021, Instagram banned him from posting claims about vaccine safety and COVID-19.

After he was banned by the platform, Kennedy said that his Instagram posts raised legitimate concerns about vaccines and were backed by research. His account was banned just days after Facebook and Instagram announced they would block the spread of what they described as misinformation about vaccines, including research saying the shots cause autism, are dangerous, or are ineffective.

“This kind of censorship is counterproductive if our objective is a safe and effective vaccine supply,” he said at the time.

'Cash Is Printed Freedom' - 530,000 Austrians Betrayed After Referendum On Cash Payments In The Constitution

ORIGINAL LINK
'Cash Is Printed Freedom' - 530,000 Austrians Betrayed After Referendum On Cash Payments In The Constitution

Authored by John Cody via Remix News,

A world without cash would lead to “financially incapacitated” citizens, argues the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ)...

After 530,000 Austrians signed a referendum petition calling for the right to cash payments to be enshrined in Austria’s constitution in 2022, Austria’s political class is refusing to move forward with adding this legal right, warns the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ).

“Nowhere else in the world is an everyday life without cash so clearly rejected as in Austria. We see this justified desire of the population, which is reflected in the popular petition ‘For unrestricted cash payment,’ as a concrete work order to the parliament!,” said Finance and Budget Spokesman of the Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) Hubert Fuchs during a parliamentary debate.

Although the referendum is not binding, in a country of 8.9 million, the fact that over half a million signed the referendum petition shows a broad level of resistance against the push for digital currencies promoted by central banks across the world and institutions like the World Economic Forum (WEF). It was the 13th most popular referendum in the country’s history. However, the center-right Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), which has long been said to have backed the right to cash, is now joining the left-wing parties of Austria and blocking all attempts to add this right to the country’s constitution.

FPÖ says ‘cash is freedom’

Fuchs sees the great support for the petition as a clear mandate to the National Council, which is one of the two houses in Austria’s parliament.

“The initiators and supporters of this petition do not just want words of thanks. Rather, it is a concrete request to the National Council to ensure that the federal government finally gets its act together. But let me report from the finance committee: Our motion for the preservation of cash was once again rejected by the ÖVP. So it’s all just lip service and fine words, while these are not followed by action,” said Fuchs.

Austrian Freedom Party financial spokesman Hubert Fuchs. (Austrian Parliament)

The ÖVP is reportedly attempting to blame their coalition partners, the Greens, but the FPÖ rejects these claims. Fuchs argues that if “nothing can be brought forward in the country (through legislation), one should step soon again to the ballot box — the republic would be served thereby very much.”

The FPÖ, known for its stance against Russia sanctions and its calls to stop immigration by building “Fortress Austria,” is currently the most popular party in the country, with polls putting it at approximately 27 percent. The party, although conservative, takes a skeptical view of unbridled free market capitalism, and argues that the government must protect against real estate speculators and provide generous cash benefits to encourage Austrians to have more children.

The party has also made the right to cash payments an intrinsic part of its platform, arguing that they ensure freedom from government oversight and also protect Austrians from predatory banks and credit card institutions.

“We, the Freedom Party — in contrast to all other parties — have already been campaigning for years for the preservation of cash as well as for the anchoring of the right to cash payments in the constitution. This was also included in the ÖVP-FPÖ government program (of the previous government), but unfortunately could no longer be implemented. And I wonder why, if all parties are in favor of preserving cash, especially the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), they have not tabled a motion on this today?” asked Fuchs. “According to the current legal situation, there is no real obligation to accept cash. The relevant legal provisions need to be tightened up here.”

Fuchs also said in his speech that implementing a financial system where only digital currencies exist would lead to an increase in money laundering and covert financing of terrorism, as according to him, digital and cryptocurrencies are a hotbed for criminality.

“This freedom of choice must continue to exist in the future. Cash is data protection in action. Cash is printed freedom. And another aspect should not remain unmentioned: Without cash, how are children supposed to learn how to handle money and thus how to do business? Money at their fingertips is very important for children. But it is not only important for children, but also for adults in terms of their own spending control,” explained the FPÖ finance and budget spokesman.

Fuchs may be referring to the practice of many consumers reverting back to cash to better control spending, which is a trend seen in the United States this year. Experts argue that using physical cash instead of electronic payments helps people better control and track their spending.

However, the FPÖ also points to a new Marketmind study, which shows that 48 percent of women and 40 percent of men in Austria cannot get a credit card due to their low income and are therefore dependent on cash.

“That’s no wonder when you consider that in our country around 17 percent of the population must be classified as at risk of poverty. That is just one of the many reasons why we have to insist on (the right to) receiving cash with all our might,” said the FPÖ consumer protection spokesman, Peter Worm.

“In view of the fact that more than 530,000 citizens have signed the referendum entitled ‘For unrestricted cash payments’, it is more than opportune to recognize the importance of the issue. The unified opposition of the ÖVP, SPÖ, Greens and NEOS talk loudly about receiving the cash, but votes against every one of our proposals to ensure cash, including cent and euro coins along with notes in the current form, is preserved and to anchor cash in general in our constitution. Our application to establish a constitutionally stipulated obligation to contract for the movement of goods and services in connection with the basic acceptance of cash as a means of payment in the Austrian legal system also failed due to all four parties,” explained Wurm.

“But we Liberals will continue to comply with the will of the citizens. Cash means survival, freedom and self-determination. The transparent citizen has already become a reality to some extent, and only receiving cash in a constitutionally protected form can prevent even worse things from happening,” emphasized Wurm.

In Austria, 50 percent of all transactions are still conducted in cash, far above the European average of approximately 30 percent. Germans are also against digital transactions, with just 9 percent saying they would use mobile payments.

Why protect cash?

As Remix News previously reported, privacy and civil rights organizations have long advocated the right to cash with the argument that privacy, civil liberties, and finical security are at stake. Abolishing cash would force citizens to conduct all transactions through a digital medium, such as mobile payments, credit cards, or digital currencies. Banks and electronic mediums remain vulnerable to hack attacks and even natural disasters, for example, if the power grid were to be knocked out. The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, which is a part of the Ministry of Justice, warned in one report that a totally cashless society would be extremely vulnerable if the country were attacked or exposed to a natural disaster

For those concerned about privacy, such as those in Germany and Austria, digital payments give law enforcement and government authorities a direct window into all transactions.

Even more worrying for some, digital money could one day be linked to political and social behavior in Western countries in a social credit system, as seen in China. Already, during the “Freedom Convoy” trucker protests against Covid-19 policies in Canada, the left-wing government of Justin Trudeau took the unprecedented step of freezing the bank accounts of protesters. Although civil liberty groups decried the authoritarian action as a flagrant abuse of power, many critics worry that the action could now serve as a template to deal with protesters and dissent in the future. If dissidents and those critical of the government cannot keep their money outside the digital space, then they will have nowhere to hide their finances should governments, like the one in Canada, take action against them.

Why did Durham let Spygate's mastermind off the hook?

ORIGINAL LINK

john_brennan.jpg

If the massively misdirected Trump-Russia investigation were to have a name, "Spygate" would be as good as any. If Spygate had a mastermind, it would be John Brennan, the most partisan CIA director in the agency's history.

If the report prepared by Special Counsel John Durham has a hole in its center, it is the hole that Brennan should have filled.

Brennan appears to have conned his way up and out. By "voluntarily" making himself available for interviews with Durham, Brennan was able to deflect blame on to those who refused.

The refuseniks include the former FBI personnel at the heart of the scandal – James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Bill Priestap and convicted FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith.

In reading the Durham report, one gets the sense that Brennan let the FBI, Peter Strzok in particular, take the rap for an attempted coup that Brennan, with the blessing of his boss, appears to have led.

Brennan was the one person who knew the most about what Durham awkwardly calls the "Clinton Plan intelligence." This was the campaign plan hatched by the Hillary Clinton camp "to stir up a scandal against U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump by tying him to Putin and the Russians' hacking of the Democratic National Committee."

Clinton approved this plan during the Democratic National Convention, on July 26, 2016. "In late July 2016," according to Durham, "U.S. intelligence agencies" were made aware of the plan. (All dates are 2016 unless noted otherwise).

The report continues, "The official who initially received the information immediately recognized its importance – including its relevance to the U.S. presidential election – and acted quickly to make CIA leadership aware of it."

As Durham reports, Brennan "personally received a copy of the intelligence." He had this information when he met with Obama, Comey and other key personnel in the White House Situation Room on Aug. 3.

We know that Brennan had this intelligence only because former DNI Director John Ratcliffe declassified Brennan's handwritten notes from this meeting four years later.

The August 2016 meeting would deform American politics for at least the next three years. According to those notes and "his recollections," Brennan briefed his colleagues "on relevant intelligence known to date on Russian election interference, including the Clinton Plan intelligence."

When interviewed, however, Brennan claimed he did not recall "focusing" on the "Clinton campaign's purported plan." Given the subsequent behavior of the FBI, Brennan may have mentioned the Clinton Plan only in passing, if he mentioned it at all.

Just four days earlier, the FBI had launched "Crossfire Hurricane," an investigation into alleged collusion between Trump's camp and the Russians. In the weeks to come the FBI would build a case against Trump and his advisers based to a large degree on the paid disinformation derived from the Clinton Plan.

Comey attended the Aug. 3 meeting. Had Brennan focused on the Clinton Plan, Comey would surely have been more cautious in chasing the Russia collusion phantom if only to avoid embarrassment.

Peter Strzok, who headed up Crossfire Hurricane, missed the Aug. 3 meeting. He was returning from London where he had gone to confer with the Australian diplomat whose encounter with George Papadopoulos triggered the FBI investigation.

Strzok soldiered on with his investigation during the following month, giving no hint that he was on a fool's errand. "[Trump's] not going to become president, right? Right?!" his lover Lisa Page texted anxiously on Aug. 8. "No. No, he's not," her Quixote responded. "We'll stop it."

Comey and the other FBI brass never warned Strzok off. Brennan appears to have kept them in the dark about the Clinton Plan. He let Crossfire Hurricane generate the kind of media buzz that would, as intended, damage the Trump campaign.

The Clinton Plan resurfaced on Sept. 7, probably by mistake. That day, the CIA sent a routine intelligence brief to Comey and Strzok that alluded to "Hillary Clinton's approval of a plan concerning U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private email server."

If Comey or Strzok saw this brief, they did not follow up on it. On Oct. 21, with Strzok's support, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court approved the surveillance on hapless Trump adviser Carter Page. The court relied heavily on the information about Page in the Steele dossier, a bogus report paid for by the Clinton camp.

Brennan watched Page's persecution and the collateral damage to the Trump campaign without protest. Once Brennan left office in January 2017, he eagerly enlisted in the high-level junta plotting to destroy the Trump presidency.

Brennan emerged, in fact, as the junta's boldest and most authoritative voice. From his posts at NBC News and MSNBC, he railed at Trump with the fury of a Puritan divine preaching infant damnation.

On special occasions, such as Trump's revocation of his security clearance, Brennan turned to the New York Times. In an Aug. 16, 2018, op-ed, Brennan huffed, "Mr. Trump's claims of no collusion are, in a word, hogwash."

Brennan got that wrong. Inexplicably, Durham gives him points for admitting that he did. He cites Brennan's appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" after the Mueller investigation concluded.

There, Brennan told his startled hosts, "I don't know if I received bad information, but I think I suspected there was more than there actually was."

Hogwash! Brennan received good information. He suppressed that and let the bad information flow. After all, he had a president to elect, and she wasn't Donald Trump.
